The University Forest Administration and Management Fund have installed a station for measuring climate change in the University Forest of Pertouli, Trikala, a project which was funded by the Region of Thessaly. The Station consists of scientific instruments with very high precision sensors, through which online measurements are taken, among others, for the quantity of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane, which, after being evaluated, will lead to conclusions about how Greenhouse affects climate change.

The intention of the Fund Management is that Greece joins, the pan-European network ICOS (Integrated Carbon Observation System) which is the most important body in the field of monitoring climate change and greenhouse gases at European level. Similar stations have been installed in all major European countries.

Our country will thus acquire an important tool for monitoring climate change, which will record the effects of climate change on forests and with the data it will provide to scientific and research staff will be an aid and guide in future decision making scientifically and politicaly.
