The practical training of the students of the Department of Forestry and Natural Environment is mandatory and takes place: Upon finishing the 4th semester at the University Forest of Taxiarchis (1-31 July), the 6th semester at the University Forest of Pertouli (1-31 August) and the 8th semester at the University Forest of Pertouli (1-31 July). The two University Forest have all the necessary facilities to accommodate students during their stay (hostel, restaurant, teaching rooms, etc).

In addition to the two summer months of Undergraduate students intership, the rest of the year the facilities serve postgraduate students or PhD candidates, researchers from the Department of Forestry and Natural Environment or other Schools and Departments, and may also be used for hosting conferences.

For this purpose, research-experimental areas and other infrastructures have been created, such as the Laboratories of Forest Genetics, Forestry and Pasture Management, Climate Change Monitoring Station, Weather Stations, Astronomy Station-branch of the Observatory of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Museum of Natural History.

At the same time, in the framework of international programs and educational exchanges with Foreign Universities, practitioners Foresters, Forestry School Professors and foreign students visit the University Forest for joint research, training and exchange of views regarding model forest administration and management.

Finally, through the Business Program “Human Resources Development, Education and Lifelong Learning” 2014 – 2020 of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the University Forests accept undergraduate students from the Department of Forestry in order to carry out an Internship through National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF) in addition to the mandatory internship during in the 4th, 6th and 8th semester.
